Somalia. Urgh.
This one was hard. Not, like, physically hard or difficult to draw, but like, emotionally hard to look at while I was working on it. Tony and Ziva both looked like PURE CRAP. I applaud the make-up artists in this episode because, gee whiz, they really looked like they were super-dehydrated, sweaty, and got dragged through the dirt. In hindsight, I should’ve added sweatdrops. Goddamnit.
But yeah, Ziva had been held prisoner in a terrorist camp for four months at that point and we still have no idea what she went through. It’s like the writers were like… HERE GUISE WRITE YER FANFIC NAO.
Okay, let me just add that I did horribly on my Reading Comprehension state exams throughout grade school.Top 95% in Grammar, low 60s in Reading. This can be applied to symbolism and friggin’ dialogue, too. Earlier in the episode, before Tony knew Ziva was alive, he talked about diving head-first into danger without regard for his own well-being, and the reason for it being vengeance. That second before he said vengeance, I thought he was gonna say “love,” but that’s just me. Anyway, I always thought he was there to rescue Ziva, like he didn’t believe she was really dead. But then I put two and two together and realized that when he said to Ziva: “Couldn’t live without ya, I guess,” to her kidnapper, he was pretty much saying “Goddamnit, Ziva’s dead, I’m gonna take out this asshole that killed her and go down trying.” And it only took me my 10th viewing to get it.
Oh well. Taken out of context, it’s still pretty telling and romantic if you ask me, hurr.
EDIT: Fixed.
It is romantic…and you’re so talented *happy sighs*
